    Muy buena opción en San Cristobal

    Si bien todo Galápagos es caro, considero que el hotel era demasiado caro. La piscina es muy pequeña y poco funcional. La Tv no iba.
    El hotel esta situado delante del mar, al lado de una playa llena de lobos marinos adorables. Las habitaciones son muy grandes, modernas y limpias. Además la cama era muy cómoda.

    Penosa Decepcion

    Reservamos y pagamos por una habitacion tipo suite con vista al mar, y recibimos una habitacion tipo suite con vista a la que el gerente del hotel llamaba vista parcial al mar, ya que estaba ubicada en una esquina y tocaba salir a la terraza para divisar una parte de agua y mayormente el malecon de San Cristobal. Razon por la cual solicitamos nos reubiquen en una habitacion con las caracteristicas por la que habiamos pagado, a lo que el gerente indicaba que habia una disponible pero que a la mañana siguiente iban a llegar unos huespedes frecuentes que habian pedido precisamente lo que nosotros, con la unica diferencia que a ellos si se lo iban a dar. Dada nuestra insatisfaccion e indignacion, le requerimos al gerente que unicamente ibamos a permanecer 2 dias (tiempo de espera en que nos prometio buscarnos una solucion) y no los 4 por los que ya habiamos pagado con la tarjeta de credito, a lo que el gerente muy amable nos dijo que no habria ningun inconveniente y que nos daria una nota de credito por las 2 noches que no ocupamos el servicio del hotel y que el reverso por el 50% del pago a la tarjeta lo solicitarian y que demoraria 5 dias laborables. En resumen esto ultimo nunca ocurrio, ya llevamos 2 semanas y aun no se ha efectuado tal reverso de pago en la tarjeta de credito por lo q acudimos a la institucion financiera para que se inicie el reclamo por esa via. Al registrar nuestro reclamo nos enteramos que tal compra de hospedaje configuraba como un gasto en el exterior lo que nos penaliza aun mas pues los ecuatorianos tenemos un cupo maximo de 5000 dolares para gastos en el exterior exentos del ISD. Yo me pregunto: como puede ser que habiendonos hospedados en un hotel del pais Ecuador y con factura autorizada SRI, el gasto se considere como salida de divisas ?? Gracias por todo y esperemos no seguir encontrandonos con mas sorpresas! No es la manera de hacer negocios señores, es mi humilde opinion.
    El personal del comedor fue muy amable y servicial.

    El sitio es el más

    El personal muy mal capacitado. No pudieron solucionar cosas simples. No cumplían con lo que ofrecían. Les pides cosas y luego contestan "es que me olvide" En el restaurante se demoran demasiado en servir y órdenes incompletas, era una mesa de 8.
    La vista, la arquitectura y limpieza.

    Great location & comfortable!

    The wifi is weak and the breakfast is limited and repititive.
    The location is fabulous. It has very comfortable, clean rooms and the shower is super. Staff is friendly and helpful!

    We were given 3 magnetic card keys for our room, they kept deactivating, the response we were given was that as one was activated the rest would deactivate...The breakfast buffet was nice but not quite what I would expect from a hotel of this price, we have visited less expensive hotels in the Galapagos which have us a much better quality and variety. Finally on arrival we were charged approximately $100 more than the advertised price and the reason we were given for this was because of exchange rates...(I had taken into account the extra taxes) I have a friend who stayed at the hotel the week previous who they also tried to do this to and she put up more of a fight and was not charged the extra amount. Finally I requested an extra bed to be put into the room prior to arrival, I understand that I did not explicitly state that this was for an extra guest which was an error of expression, I was then given an extra $90 per night charge for the extra guest. The charge is not the issue I was expecting this when I initially contacted the hotel but I would personally think that when contacted about adding an extra bed it might be advisable to ask whether this is for an extra guest. I was assured that there would be no problem as the suite we booked contained a sofa bed and then was given notice of the extra charge on arrival which again was a bit of a surprise. The reason for my good rating of staff is because the general staff were very pleasant and extremely helpful.
    The Golden Bay is a very luxurious hotel and the view that we had from the room was fantastic. The room itself was very spacious and clean, general staff were very pleasant and very helpful. The view of the sea lions out front is a particular highlight and is a fantastic addition which makes the location of the golden bay very special.

    The facilities are nice but the hotel could be managed better.

    For the price of the hotel, there were things that did not live up to my expectations. For example, the pool/jacuzzi did not work, they charge you extra for bacon in your eggs (seems ridiculous for the price per room), and service could be better.
    The hotel´s location is great.

    Overpriced.

    For the cost, we expected more from this hotel. All of the 'luxury' aspects were lacking - the very tiny pool was closed or being used for scuba lessons, the hot tub wasn't working, the breakfast buffet was minimal, and the bar service was painfully slow. The door to our room was warped and scraped the floor, and we had to push HARD to get it to open. Our key cards worked 50% of the time. They didn't even provide a carafe of drinkable water in our room (unlike every other hotel we stayed in), instead forcing us to refill tiny little glasses at a jug down the hall!! Never mind that at check in, they couldn't figure out if I had paid a deposit yet. Fortunately, they were full and we could only reserve two nights - the remainder of our time on San Cristobal we stayed at Casa Opuntia just two doors down the beach - half the price, and a MUCH more charming hotel.

    hip hotel with best view in town

    Lots of white in this hotel, so its hard to keep it looking crisp and clean, but they try. Dining prices were on high side. Wifi was really spotty to the point of being aggravating-even check out took forever because of the wifi being down. They probably should print out the invoices during the night to avoid the stress in the morning if it isn't working! I should note, wifi is spotty everywhere on this island. Not a single english cable channel. Even though most of staff was really accommodating, there was one person who just seemed lost in translation. Anytime I asked for something: soap in the lobby bathroom, tour price, etc. I had to ask more than once and finally just gave up and walked away.
    Best location in town, a few steps away from the sea lions! Dining and cocktails with a view. Hip beach hotel. Room was a good size, we had a balcony with a partial view, but never used it. The two clean swimming pools were great for our 5 year old. Some staff members really went out of their way-one of the front desk ladies (I forgot her name) walked us to the pier and helped us get a water taxi for a tour around the bay. Another staff member was great about tips on what to do with a child, even looking up the tide times, etc.

    The bed was comfortable but the pillows were not soft enough.
    The hotel is beautiful, conveniently located and the staff were wonderful. The breakfast buffet was excellent. I also had a delicious bowl of soup at the restaurant for dinner one night.

    Gorgeous hotel in an incredible location

    Unfortunately the cost of everything- The restaurant is painfully expensive ($4.50 for an espresso, $16 for a small soup, 35 for a main etc) the washing ($4-$6 per item) and the nightly charge was really high for San Cristobal/Ecuador. Some staff were perfect and truly exceptional, others had a lot to be desired and lacked the "can do" attitude that a true 5 star requires. We were granted a late check out, then at the 10am check out time were told we needed to change rooms immediately, so we needed to drop everything to do this straight away. The pool was empty during our stay.
    Beautiful, modern hotel in an amazing location with great rooms. The Sea lions out the front of the hotel are so wonderful to watch from the balcony (sea view rooms are a must!) Oliver at reception was incredible. He went above & beyond to help us during our stay and we were incredibly lucky to have his help.

    Great staff and location! 100% recommended! The staff was very helpfull and polite. Our room had an excellent view at the beach and the sea lions.
