In the morning we will start our tour by visiting the National Park’s San Cristobal Interpretation Center. Here we will learn more about the Islands, their volcanic origin and how is it that here, in such a remote place, you can find the most amazing variety of endemic fauna and flora.
Afterwards we will climb Frigate Bird Hill or Cerro Tijeretas its name in Spanish, due to the important colonies of frigate birds that nest in the area. Frigate Bird Hill is also a great lookout point from where we can see the beautiful Bay around which lies the town of Puerto Baquerizo Moreno, the administrative capital of Galapagos.
After enjoying lunch we will continue our adventure towards La Loberia. This is the local name given to sea-lions’ nurseries. We will walk a trail that takes us to a small beach where we will observe sea lions’ cubs resting in the sand or playing in the crystal clear seas of Galapagos. Then we continue on a more demanding trail formed by rocks, where we can encounter the famous Galapagos marine iguanas, the only reptile in the world that dives into the sea to get its food. We will arrive to a lookout point from where we can observe some of the most beautiful marine birds that inhabitant the Galapagos Islands such as blue footed boobies, frigate birds, swallow-tailed gulls, shearwaters and storm petrels.
After this fantastic visit we will enjoy snorkeling at the Loberia. Galapagos marine life is amazing and, while snorkeling, you can find unique and colorful fish, other sea creatures and, with some luck, you may even see the beautiful marine turtles gliding in the tranquil waters of the Pacific Ocean.
